Obituary

Robert H. “Bob” Stanko, 80, of Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, after a brief illness.

He was born on January 25, 1946, in Sheffield, PA, to the late Paul and Marie (Lucks) Stanko.

He started his work life as a young teenager working on a dairy farm in Lander, PA. He worked at West Penn Oil Company before then moving to Chataqua Hardware in Jamestown, NY, where he worked for 40 years, only leaving when the plant closed. After he left work, he provided daycare for his youngest granddaughter and helped raise his two great-grandchildren.

Bob enjoyed hunting, he was always looking forward to deer season. He enjoyed working around his yard planting his sunflowers and tomatoes.

He was a member of the Warren Moose Lodge #109 and the Warren Fraternal Order of Eagles #313.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was his whole life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl “Sherry” Stanko whom he married July 2, 1966. In their younger years, they traveled throughout the United States, visiting almost all the states and many casinos along the way.

He is also survived by his two children, Jason (Melissa) Stanko and Karin Navarrro; his four grandchildren, Kristen Stanko (Fiancé, Russ Fultz), Tyler (Crystal) Vick, Domenic (Maddy) Navarro, and Riley Stanko; his beloved great-granddaughters, Myla and Kaydence Lyle; his two brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Stanko and Ron Stanko, brother-in-law Jerry (Suky) Bancroft; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth, in 1967, and his son, Dennis, in 1969; his brothers, Jim and Terry Stanko; his in-laws, Mary and Larry Bancroft; brother-in-law, Jimmy Bankcroft; and sister-in-law, Carol Stanko.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave E, Warren, PA, 16365. Per Bob’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services, but a Celebration of Life for Bob will be held this upcoming summer.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to the Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave, Warren, PA, 16365, or a charity of choice.
