Richard F. "Kobe" Webb, 66, of Russell, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House. He was born April 15, 1948 in Kobe, Japan, the son of the late Richard T. and Mary F. Kerr Webb.
Kobe was a graduate of West Seneca High School, and had attended Rosary Hill College. He later obtained his Associate's Degree from the Bryant & Stratton Institute in 1987.
He had been enlisted in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War; and also served an additional term from 1975 to 1978, achieving the rank of Corporal. He was a well decorated Marine who had received several badges and ribbons, including the Rifle Sharpshooter, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame, the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Air Medal #5; the Navy Unit Commendation; and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Kobe had been the owner and operator of his own computer company, and had also worked at G.G. Greene as a machine operator, from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved animals, especially his cats.
He is survived by his fiancé, Ms. Donna Swanson, of Russell; two sisters, Judy James, and husband, John, of Lindsay, OK, and Linda Kalenda, of West Seneca, NY; one brother, Fred Metz, and wife, Bev, of Chapel Hill, NC; his cousin, Cathy Edwards, and husband, Dale, of Frewsburg, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, May 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, May, 29 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Neil Siefert, chaplain and pastor, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365 or Paws Along The River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
