Richard A. "Dick" Ristau, 80, of Warren, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Warren Manor. Dick was born May 26, 1937, in Warren, the son of the late Emil Julius and Mildred Isabella (Schmutz) Ristau.
A lifelong resident of Warren, Dick graduated from Warren Area High School in 1955. Upon graduation, he began his career at GTE Sylvania, from which he retired after many years. He was a member of the Eagles Club, and a former member of the First United Methodist Church. In his younger years, Dick served as Fish Commissioner. He was passionate about the outdoors and could always be found near the water. He loved fishing, hunting, farming, and especially his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Joan (Huffman) Ristau, whom he married August 22, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church; two children— Dan Ristau, and wife, Nancy, of Enfield, NC, and Beth Cooper, and husband, Jason, of Avon, IN; four siblings—Marilyn Buvoltz, of Warren, Emily Neall, and husband, Jack, of Dade City, FL, Thomas Ristau, of Clarendon, and Linda Lawton, of Dade City, FL; four grandchildren—Kyle Ristau, and wife, Nicki, of Russell, Ashley Ristau, of Greensboro, NC, Elliot Cooper, of Avon, IN, and Emma Cooper, also of Avon, IN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Dick was also eagerly anticipating the birth of his very first great-grandchild, due in October of this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Bruce Lawton.
A memorial service will be held at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating.
