Richard P. "Dick" or "Buppa" Lawson, 79, of Warren, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House, following a brief illness. Dick was born August 4, 1937, in Youngsville, PA. He was the son of the late Reeves and Ethel Lawson.
Dick was a lifelong area resident of Warren County. He was a hardworking husband and father, whose main priority was to provide for his family. Dick retired from the City of Warren for the Department of Public Works, and also from Blair Corporation. After retirement, Dick was employed by Betts Industries for several years. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family and watching his grandchildren play ball.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn L. Lawson; and their five children—Rick Lawson, and companion, JoLee, of Jamestown, NY, Jodi Arthur, and husband, Denny, of Warren, PA, Julie Lawson, of Evergreen, CO, Kim Connolly, and husband, Jeff, of Java Center, NY, and Michele Tremblay, and companion, Chad, of Warren, PA; one sister—Lois Fuller, and husband, Melvin, of Angola, NY; two brothers—Denny Lawson, of Dahlonega, GA, and Jack Lawson, of Florida; 14 grandchildren—Richie (Kim) Lawson, Jennifer (Josh) Neal, Mariah Lawson, Josh (Nikki) Arthur, Scott Arthur, Kristin McClement, Kyle (Megan) McClement, Kellie McClement, Darin Francisco, Sara Fromknecht, Jimmy Steppe, Evan Tremblay, Owen Becker, and Luke Becker; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two sisters—Betty and Clara; and five brothers—Donald, Terry, Edward, Gary and Reavie.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA, on Wednesday, April 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 6, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Warren General Hospital and Rouse Home, officiating.
