Obituary

Richard A. Ishman, 73, of 208 Dutch Hill Road, Warren, PA, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Warren General Hospital.

Richard was born May 2, 1941, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Howard W. and Doris B. Ishman.

Richard served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1979. His service time included time in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a well deserved recipient of the National Defense Service Medal; the Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Armed Forces Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal Expeditionary Medal; the Vietnamese Cross Of Gallantry with palm; and the Good Conduct Medal. He and his wife were later active the USNS Corpus Christy Bay Alliance, a military retirement group.

Following his service to his country, Richard was a tool and die maker for several years at Arro Tool and Die of Lakewood, NY.  He was a family man who loved to work. He also enjoyed working on, and remodeling the house, and especially enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Vandenburg) Ishman, whom he married on December 19, 1970; one daughter, Heather Cataldo and her husband Jerry, of Somerset, KY; four grandchildren, Kaitlin, of Warren,  Logan, Chandler, Cassidy, and Delaney, of Somerset, KY; a sister, Helen Corley of Missouri, a brother, Robert Ishman, of Youngsville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved son, Darby A. Ishman; his beloved grandson, Jeffrey R. Ishman; one sister, Peggy Patch; and three brothers, William, Rusty  and John Ishman, who died serving our country during his military service.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA, on Friday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Warren Alliance Church, 278 Kinzua Road, Warren, PA, on Saturday, May 10 for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Douglas McCracken, pastor, officiating.  Military Honors will be bestowed by the members of the Sheffield and Clarendon VFW Honor Guard, and active duty US Army personnel.

The family suggests memorials be made to Cancer Care Center at WGH 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365.
