Obituary

Richard A. Chapel, 74, of Irvine, PA, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2021, following a short illness. He was born November 18, 1946, in Warren, the son of the late Richard L. and Laura Rickerson Chapel. Dick was a loving, attentive and conscientious man who would drive back to the bank when he realized the teller had given him a dollar too much. He would always see the best in everyone and would always give everyone the benefit of the doubt. He would give someone the shirt off his back if he thought they needed it. He was an avid baseball fan and an excellent player in his younger years. Dick enjoyed hunting, woodworking, carpentry, and watching wildlife from his home nestled in the Allegheny National Forest, where he also enjoyed walking with his wife and his Labrador Retrievers, Molly and Quinn, along the Hedgehog stream. He was loyal to his family and friends and loved spending time with them. Dick was a 1964 graduate of Warren Area High School, and as a younger man, Dick worked at Rexnord, the National Forge, Penelec, and Country Fair. He Worked for over twenty years at Struthers Wells Corp as an NDT Operator. He then worked as head custodian for the Warren County School District at Sheffield Elementary School, where the children, staff, teachers, and dietary people respected and adored him. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Cheryl Hoag Chapel, whom he married on July 3, 1976, at the First Lutheran Church in Warren; a son, Charles R. Chapel; a daughter, Jennifer L. Adams; three grandchildren, Devin Adams, Xavier Chapel, and Abigail Chapel; and a sister, Julia Ann Yeagle and her husband Bruce. Friend and family will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Wednesday, June 23, from 10 am until 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will be held there with The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family asks that memorial donations be made in his memory to Hospice of Warren County, One Main Ave. Warren, PA 16365 or to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm St. Warren, PA 16365
