Walton
October 22, 1927 – November 10, 2015
Rev. Clifford L. Walton, 88, of Jamestown, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at W. C. A. Hospital of Jamestown, NY.
Rev. Walton was born October 22, 1927 in South Portland, ME, the son of the late Clifford and Dorothy (Griffin) Walton. He graduated from S. Portland High School in 1946, then obtained his A.B. from Eastern Nazarene College, and then earned his M.A. from Olivet Nazarene College. He was a minister for forty three years. He was instrumental in major building projects for his last two churches in Kalamazoo, MI, and then Owosso, MI. He worked as a Junior High Camp Director, and in administration as a recruiter for Eastern Nazarene College for two years. He was also a Hospice chaplain for five years in Inverness, FL, and a former member of the Kiwanis, and the Rotary Club. Rev. Walton loved his Lord, his family, and the many friends he made on his journey through life.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy R.(Young) Walton, whom he married on June 24, 1950; a daughter, Dr. Joanne Sorensen and her husband Daniel, of Russell, PA; a son, Glenn Walton and his wife Dianne, of Gray, ME; one sister, Roberta Cramer, of Cadillac, MI; three grandchildren, Jennifer Whelan, and her husband, Lt. Colonel Christopher Whelan, of Laurel, MD, Brynne Hinsdale and her husband Kyle, Clymer, NY, and Aric Walton and his wife Jessica, Yarmouth, ME; four great grandsons, Gerrit, Bryce, Aidan, and Declan, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Sorensen.
Friends will be received at the First Church of the Nazarene, 907 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, 16365, on Thursday, November 12, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held there on Friday, November 13, at 11:00 am. Calling will also be held for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.
