Raymond “Ray” Louis Schrader, 80, of Warren, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.

Ray was born on October 2, 1945, in Warren, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Raymond J. Schrader and Bernice I. (Raisor) Schrader.

A graduate of Warren High School, Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Stationed in Texas with the 2nd Armored Division, "Hell on Wheels," he helped train combat troops preparing for service in Vietnam. During his military service, he was also selected to participate in a presidential honor guard.

On October 14, 1988, he married the love of his life, Shounda (Zurcher) Schrader, with whom he shared many wonderful years.

Ray worked at PDM and then dedicated 38 years of service to Rexnord Thomas Coupling as machinist before retiring.

He found his greatest peace in the outdoors. Whether hunting, trapping, or fishing, Ray was happiest in the woods or on the water. He also enjoyed reading, watching the History Channel, and spending time with his cousins and many lifelong friends. Some of his favorite days were taking scenic drives to Scandia, always ending the trip with an ice cream cone.

More than anything, Ray treasured his family. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and took great pride in the time he spent with them.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Shounda Schrader; his stepdaughter, Christina “Tina” Dinger and her husband, Steve; a stepdaughter-in-law, Samantha Ettinger, his grandchildren, Mitch (Clare) Dinger, Rachel (Tyler) Bradley, Myles Ettinger, and Adeline Ettinger; and his great-grandchildren, Cash, Archer, and Grady.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his stepson, Steven J. Ettinger.

Ray will be remembered for his quiet strength, hardworking nature, love of the outdoors, devotion to his family, and the kindness he shared with those who knew him. He leaves behind many treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna Ave E, Warren, PA, 16365. Visitation for Ray will take place at the funeral home on Friday, July 24, from 2pm-4pm, with a memorial service to follow at 4pm, and full Military Honors presented by the Youngsville American Legion Post 658.
