Obituary

Raymond J. Nordin, 57, of Cherry Grove, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born December 14, 1960, in Warren, to the late Wilbur "Bud" and Jane Potter Nordin. Ray was a resident of Cherry Grove his entire life, and a 1978 graduate of the Sheffield High School. He had worked at the National Forge in the early eighties, worked in the woods timbering, and was a self employed contractor for the most recent years, retiring due to illness. Ray loved his place on the hill, and he loved everything outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and just spending time around the fire with family and friends. He also enjoyed the shooting sports as a member of the Sheffield Rod and Gun Trap Team and shooting at the Kalbus Club. Ray was also a member of the Sheffield and Clarendon VFW's, and the Eagles Club. He liked a good game of cards, travelling with his wife, and spending time with his family and many friends. He will long be remembered for his great sense of humor, his quick wit, his commitment to work, and his genuine care for others. He attended the Praise Fellowship, and the Church on the Rock in Lakewood, NY. Ray is survived by his wife, Lou M. Anderson Nordin, whom he married on February 14, 1998; two sisters, Dana Hamby and husband Ralph of Dubois, PA, and Nora Shaw of Phoenix, AZ; children, Jodi Carter, JoAnne Olander, John, Jillette, and Jordan Crowl; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Nordin. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA on Friday, November 9, from 4:30 to 8:00 pm., and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held at the Praise Fellowship, Rt. 62 N., Russell, PA on Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 am., with Rev. Rick Rohlin, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow on the Cherry Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hunt of a Lifetime, P.O. Box 241, Harborcreek, PA 16421, or to the Warren Cancer Center, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365
