Obituary

R. William Richards Jr., 91, of Warren, PA, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. Bill was born on January 27, 1932, in Reading, PA, the son of the late R. William Richards Sr. and E. Ruth Krips Richards. He graduated from Shillington High School in Reading, PA. Bill was an aircraft mechanic for Teterboro Aircraft in N.J. and later in Middletown, PA., and then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service for 19 years from which he retired. Bill was then a self -employed contractor, building homes in the area, until the age of 79. Bill was also in the US Army reserves for six years, discharged as an E5 Sergeant. Bill was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church with Kay when they joined in 1982. He was a very involved member as a trustee of the church and helped with the mechanical and structural inner workings of the church facilities and was also a greeter. Bill loved hunting, fishing, camping, and enjoyed gardening. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, grandfather, great grandfather, and great- great grandfather. Bill is survived by his children, Janet Hutley and husband Robert of Lander, PA, Robert Richards of Warren, Michael Richards and wife Cynthia of Sugar Grove, David Richards of Irvine, and Tim Richards and wife Mirja of Kane; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death on January 19, 2020, by his wife, Kay V. Richards, whom he married on September 19, 1953; grandson, Jeremy Richards; brothers, Tiny, Havard, and Fred Richards; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Richards. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, 1003 Penna.Ave.E., Warren,  on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and one hour prior to a funeral service to be held at the Calvary Baptist Church 445 Conewango Ave., Warren, on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:00am, with Rev. Joel Dingeldein, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, www.act.alz.org, the Shriners Hospital, www.shrinershospitalforchildren.org , or the Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Conewango Ave., Warren, PA.
