Phyllis E. Cable, 94, formerly of Russell, most recently of Warren, and the Suites at Rouse, died December 31, 2020 at the Rouse Home, after Covid infection. Phyllis was born February 24, 1926, in Olean, NY, the daughter of the Gilbert and Helen Horne Tucker. Phyllis was a graduate of the Warren High School and was employed at the Betty Dixon Candy Store and later the New Process Company. An accomplished knitter, her mittens, hats, sweaters, and lap robes warm and brighten the lives of her children, her extended family, her friends, and generations of school children from York, PA. to Saginaw, MI. For decades, her colorful gardens delighted family and visitors. She is survived by two sons, David Cable and wife Nancy, of Saginaw, MI, and John Cable and companion Donna, of Jamestown, NY; a sister, Janice Lewis, of Hershey, PA; four grandchildren, Allison Lawson, Bonnie Mazzone and husband Jonathan, Benjamin Cable and wife Lindsay, and Sarah Stevens and husband David. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death on September 23, 2010, by her husband, Paul J. Cable, whom she married on December 25, 1946; a daughter, Jayne Marie Cable; four brothers, Neil, Robert, John, and Richard Tucker; and an infant sister, Jane. The family is especially indebted to nephews Kevin Cable and William Tucker and wife Delores and niece Kimberly Holmes for their many generous acts of assistance, encouragement, support and love. The family also expresses deep gratitude to the staff at Suites at Rouse and Rouse Home, for their unflagging dedication to providing care and compassion to Phyllis and those in their charge during this pandemic.
