Obituary

Phyllis Jean (Heald) Albaugh, of Clarendon Heights, had her long and wonderful earthly journey come to a peaceful end on November 28, 2016 at age 92 at the Blair Hospice House of Warren.

Phyllis was born on May 15, 1924, in Oil City, PA, the daughter of Cyrus and Mabel Heald. She moved with her family to Warren as a young girl and graduated from Warren High School, the class of 1942. As a young woman during and shortly after World War II, Phyllis worked in the office at Solar Electric of Warren.

On May 31 of 1947, Phyllis wed Stanley "Hap" Albaugh of Warren. It was a marriage that stretched nearly 70 years and produced three children, sons Dan and Scott and daughter Julie. Hap and Phyllis lived together in the same house in Clarendon Heights for nearly 67 years.

Phyllis spent the majority of her adult life as a homemaker and did an outstanding job raising her children, participating in their hobbies and activities and helping her husband in the bookkeeping side of his landscaping business. During the 1970s, she worked for several years in the office of Levinson Brothers department store.

Phyllis was known for her handiwork at crafts. Her favorite pastime was knitting, crocheting and sewing items for use by her family. She also enjoyed camping and was an avid baseball fan. Phyllis saw major league baseball games in seven different cities.

Phyllis will be remembered for her limitless devotion to her family. Her most admirable trait was her even temperament as she never allowed herself to get too high when life was going great and certainly never got too low when life got tough. Phyllis was overly tolerant and rarely had anything negative to say about anyone or anything. These were all valuable life lessons that she passed on to her children and granddaughter.

A long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene, Phyllis grew up in a family that had a strong belief in God and stressed the importance of living a Christian life. Phyllis carried those Christian convictions throughout her adult life.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis will be reunited in Heaven with the following loved ones: sister Elaine Heald,  brother Don Heald and his wife Marie, sister Lois Flood and her husband Frank, sister Grace Scalise and her husband Jim, father/mother-in-law Alva and Clara Albaugh; brother-in-law Howard Albaugh and daughter-in-law Anne Albaugh.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Stanley "Hap" Albaugh and children Dan Albaugh of Waterford, PA, Scott Albaugh of Warren and Julie (Albaugh) Goff of Warren. Other survivors include: son-in-law Terry Goff of Warren; granddaughter Gwendolyn "Gwendy" (Albaugh) Lanstrum and her husband Jon of Chardon, OH; and great-grandson Abraham "Abe" Lanstrum of Chardon, OH. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Thursday, December 1, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Rouse Home and Warren General Hospital, officiating.
