Philip E. Freeman, 91, of Clarendon, left this life to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2016. Philip was born October 24, 1924, in Erie, PA. He was the son of the late Fred E. and Florence (Heinemen) Freeman. Philip was a 1942 graduate of Youngsville High School. He joined the US Army in 1943 and served with the 278th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II, under Gen. George Patton during D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge and Siegfried Line. Upon returning home, Philip worked as a machinist at GTE Sylvania for thirty six years, from which he retired in 1987. He was a lifetime member of the Clarendon United Methodist Church. A wonderful husband, and father, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and also enjoyed the outdoors and gardening. He is survived by three daughters, Marilyn McCoy, of North Warren, Norma Todd, and fiancé, Kevin Inwood, of Pleasant Township, and Marge Jones, and husband, Randy, of North Warren, seven grandchildren, Eric and Emily Jones, Jeremiah and Justin McCracken, Melissa Kulp, and Kelly and Adam McCoy; three great-grandchildren, Elijah Kulp, and Madison and Sophie McCracken; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on January 27, 2014, by his wife, Ruth E. (Campbell) Freeman, whom he married September 23, 1950; and three siblings, Val Colosanti, Flo Reaver, and Russ Freeman. Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren on Thursday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held there on Friday, May 6, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martin Reynolds, pastor, Clarendon United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, PA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to send memorial contributions should consider the Cancer Care Center at Warren General, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365 or the Clarendon United Methodist Church, 29 N. Main Street, Clarendon, PA 16313.
