IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Penelope J.
Highhouse
November 18, 1944 – February 21, 2026
Penelope J. Highhouse, 81, of Russell, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026. That day also marked what would have been her 55th wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Bruce L. Highhouse, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Penny was born on November 18, 1944, in Jamestown, NY, to the late Jeanne and Henry Hanson.
Penny is lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Deborah (Jim) Atkins of Phoenix, AZ; Melissa Mattison of Hershey, PA; Dori Highhouse of Russell, PA; and Lori Highhouse of Jamestown, NY. The greatest joy of Penny’s life was her family, especially her cherished grandchildren: Abigail Manelick; Margaret and Evelyn Atkins; and Bruce and Lauryn Harshaw. She delighted in each of them and was endlessly proud of the people they are becoming.
She is also survived by her sisters: Martha Vaughn of Santa Fe, NM; Muriel Manfrey of Philadelphia, PA; and Melody (Greg) Morris of Jamestown, NY; her former son-in-law, Ashley (Danielle) Harshaw; and many dear friends.
Over the years, Penny worked at Jamestown Mutual, AVM Corporation, Sears for more than 30 years, and Blair Corporation until her retirement. She was a devoted mother and active member of her community. When her daughters were young, she taught Sunday School at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She later became a member of First Lutheran Church in Jamestown and enjoyed her time as a member of the Russell Lioness Club. Penny valued faith, friendship, and service, and she gave generously of her time and heart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E, Warren, PA 16365. An interment service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery for family and close friends at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Penny’s name may be made to Paws Along the River Humane Society, 212 Elm St., Warren, PA 16365, or to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701.
Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.petersonblickfuneralhome.com or on the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Facebook page.
