Obituary

Paul David Ruby, 46, formerly of Warren, PA, made his final peace with God and comfortably passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at his residence in Erie, surrounded by his loved ones after a fight of 19 months in a courageous battle with a very rare cancer, Paul was born August 26, 1969, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Frederick Merle Ruby and Bethel Eunice (McCoy) Ruby Fink.

Paul attended Jefferson Elementary in Warren, PA and then moved to Erie, PA, where he attended McDowell High School, and later attended Slippery Rock University.  He had a knack for the hospitality industry and had worked at many of the restaurants on upper Peach Street. Most recently, Paul worked at Cheddar's Restaurant. He had a natural ability to socialize with anyone and lived for this type of lifestyle. He enjoyed dancing, shopping, classic TV shows, the newest technical gadgets and had a great social life.  Towards the last few weeks of his life though, he was withdrawn and fighting to just live each day to the best he could. He was on Hospice and was provided the best end of life care in his final hours.

He is survived by his family and long time friend, Jeffrey Wright of Erie, and their dogs, Ruthie and Pebbles, five siblings, Darrell Ruby, and wife, Judy, of Warren, PA,  Terry Ruby and  Mickey Ruby, both of Warren, PA, John Ruby of Youngsville, PA, Brenda Nuhfer, and husband, Randy, of Youngsville, PA and Beth Boyd, and husband John, of Waterford, PA; thirteen nieces and nephews, Missie Johnson and Heather Ruby, both of Warren, PA, Heidi Fink, of Youngsville, PA, Amy Winegardner, of Rochester, IN, Sarah Biehls, of Warren, PA, Randy Nuhfer Jr. and Olivia Nuhfer, both of Youngsville, PA, Johnny Ruby, Jr., and Brittnay Pangborn, both of Warren, PA, Nathan Ruby, of Youngsville, PA, Mackenzie, Riley and Carter Boyd, all of Waterford, PA. Also surviving are his best friends, Angie Guerrein and Doug Burford, both of Erie, PA and a multitude of many other wonderful friends and several cousins.

He made a great abundance of friends throughout his life and was loved by many.  He enjoyed this life and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He had the "gift of gab" and used it everyday.

In addition to his parents, with his Mother's passing of just 2 years ago, he was preceded in death, by a nephew, George Biehls, Jr., and his dogs, Chloe and Reggie.

In accordance with Paul's wishes, no visitation will be observed. Graveside services will be private. A Celebration of Life service in his memory will be held in Erie, PA and announced at a later date.
