Paul Howard Lindberg, 96, formerly of Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Lutheran Home in Kane, PA.
Paul was born September 23, 1920, in Sheffield, the son of the late William Axel Lindberg and Anna Leona Swanson Lindberg.
Paul was a 1938 graduate of Sheffield High School, and a 1939 graduate of Erie Commercial College. He served in the US Army from 1942 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant. While stateside, Paul served in the Finance Corp, and overseas he served with Intelligence Service, Headquarters & Headquarters Co., Greenland Base Command.
He was a Sheffield area resident most of his life and worked for McMillen Lumber Company of Sheffield for 29 and a half years, retiring in September 1982. Paul was also previously employed by Pennsylvania Bottle Co., Pennsylvania Railroad Co., and Odin Stove Manufacturing Co. of Erie.
Most recently, Paul was a member of Sheffield Grace Bible Church; and is also a former member of the Bethlehem Covenant Church, where he served on the Deacon Board as Church Chairman, Co-Treasurer, and sang in the choir. He was also a former member of the Sheffield Rotary Club; the VFW, Michael & Nicholas Peroski Post 8755; a former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board in Warren; a former member of Covenant Manor Housing Development Fund Co. Board of Directors; a was a former member of the Sheffield School District Board of Directors.
He is survived by his children, Ruth L. Tidrick, and husband, Craig, of Warren, Mark W. Lindberg, and wife, Sandra, of Sheffield, Rebecca A. Ibanez, and husband, Dr. Mike, of Kane, and Paul "Sam" Lindberg, of Sheffield; three step-children, Ruth Nelson, John Anderson, and Deb Anderson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on December 30, 1974, by his first wife, Ann Louise Yutze Lindberg; on March 7, 1995, by his second wife, Carolyn Huber Anderson Lindberg; and siblings, Violet Phillips, Helen Seabrook, Virginia Burbey, and Milton Lindberg.
Friends will be received at the Grace Bible Church, 216 Church Street, Sheffield, on Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will be held there with Paul's son, the Rev. Mark W. Lindberg, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions should consider the Grace Bible Church in Sheffield, and the Lutheran Home, 100 High Point Drive, Kane, PA.
