Nancy Young (Bailey) Smith, 74, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 12, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others. Her compassionate spirit was surpassed only by her capacity to show love to all who knew her. Her gift was her kind heart, her sweet smile and gentle character that could relate to anyone. Nancy is survived by her husband Thomas R. Smith, whom she married October 8, 1983. Together they were active members in the Gold Wing Road Riders of Pennsylvania – Chapter Q. Nancy and Tom served as Chapter Couple and held many offices. Nancy loved her fellow Gold-Wingers and the family is eternally grateful for their fellowship that sustained her. Nancy retired from the Warren State Hospital as a registered nurse and worked at the former Kinzua Valley Healthcare in Warren. Nancy also operated Smith's Services, which provided notary services in the Sheffield Area, as well healthcare advocacy. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by two brothers Thomas (wife Debi) Young (Garden Grove, CA) and Bobby (wife Chris) Young; three sons, Ricky Bailey; Jim Bailey; Eric (wife Tammy) Bailey; two daughters Michele Bailey and Susan (husband Larry) Brooks; one step-son Royce Smith (Erie); and one step daughter Karen (husband Lou) Chiodo; grandchildren Chrissy (husband Jason) Studely, Jessica Bailey, Forrest Burford, Jared Bailey and Bryson Bailey, Abigail Smith, Angela Chiodo, Christina Martin, and several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Nabncy is also survived by her husband's siblings, Bob Smith (wife Nancy), Sue Arnold (husband Jeff) and Sally Huckabone. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, James Sherwood Young and Bertha Caroline (French) Young; and four grandchildren, Kevin, Scott, Zachary, and Jennifer Bailey. Friends and family will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA on Friday, March 17, from 6 - 8 pm and Saturday, March 18, from 10 am until 12 noon at which time a funeral service will be held at the funeral home, with David Mariner, Chaplain of the Christian Motorcycle Association, officiating.
