Michael William Vantassel Sr., 67, of Warren, PA, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his residence. Mike was born November 5, 1956, in Hopkinsville, KY, the son of the late Edgar W. and Maybelle (Burgess) Vantassel. He was employed at the Warren State Hospital from which he retired. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, traveling, cooking, and car shows. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion. Mike is survived by his children, Dena Carr and husband Frank of Texas, Andrew Darr and wife Amani of Alabama, and Stacy Simonsen and husband Dan of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Tammy Eaves, Edgar Vantassel Jr., and Lorraine Bailes; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl L. (Gess) Vantassel, whom he married on February 28, 1976; son, Michael Vantassel Jr., and two sisters, Babby Vantassel and Debra (Darr) Vantassel.
