Melissa May Genberg, known as Missy by friends and family, passed away December 24, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones. Missy, a resident of Warren was only 32. She courageously fought her Melanoma cancer of the liver until the very end.

Missy worked at the North Warren Presbyterian Daycare and had such a special bond with the children. She had a heart of gold and anyone who knew her saw that. Her positivity was infectious and she lit up any room she was in. Missy graduated from Warren Area High School in 2000. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Missy enjoyed adventures at Rim Rock, road trips and attending music festivals, especially seeing Tom Petty who is her favorite artist, and watching movies. Her love for animals and kindness towards others was something to be admired. Missy had so much love and support surrounding her in her final days and she left knowing she was special to us all.

Missy is survived by her father, Roger, her mother, Sandy, her two sisters, Kimmie and Haley, several cousins and her dog, Noel, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter, and her grandmothers Adelaide and Dorothy.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Tuesday, December 30, from 5 to 7 p.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, First Lutheran Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Cancer Center, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365, or to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
