IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marya Alice
Yurick
April 2, 1951 – November 21, 2017
Marya Alice Yurick, 66, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Warren General Hospital. Ms. Yurick was born April 2, 1951, in Warren, the only daughter of the late Andrew L. and Alice (Alexander) Yurick.
Marya was a 1969 graduate of Warren Area High School. She attended the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in English. While residing in Pittsburgh she had her dream job working at the Carnegie Library. Probably more than anything, Marya loved books. A voracious reader, she always set aside books she loved and wanted to share with friends she thought would love them too.
She was happiest spending time with her family and friends and would reminisce with them at any opportunity and for hours on end.
In recent years she was the caregiver for her lifelong friend, Mike Wood. A sweet, quiet, gentle, and giving person throughout her life, Marya was always willing to help others and would give of whatever she had to make the lives of others better. She will be remembered for her love and generosity as well as her strength of character through adversity. She was a member of Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, where she was involved with the Trinity Women, and had taken Communion to the church shut-ins. Marya was also involved for many years with the Warren Players Club, where she particularly enjoyed costuming and make-up.
She is survived by two brothers, Andrew Yurick, and wife Carolyn, of Warren, and Thomas Yurick, of Meadville; her close friend, Mike Wood, of Warren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Steven Yurick.
Friends will be received Saturday, December 2, in the parlor at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, from noon until 1pm, at which time a memorial service will be held with The Rev. Matthew R. Scott, Vicar, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider the Warren Players Club or the Warren Public Library.
