Mary "Ruth" McJunkin Miller, 91, of Warren, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, surrounded by her family at her residence.
Ruth was born October 27, 1923, in Plum Borough, PA, the daughter of the late James and Mabel Boord McJunkin. She was a 1941 graduate of Plum Borough High School and graduated Valedictorian of her class. She had very fond memories of her childhood that she often shared with family. She enjoyed her family, and especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very witty woman with a great sense of humor. She also enjoyed the family camp and fishing in Ontario, and spending time at her winter home in Naples, Florida. She also enjoyed family BBQ's, gardening and her cat, Pootoo. Ruth attended Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Walter Miller, and wife, Ginger, Pleasantville, PA, R. Scott Miller, and wife, Helen, Warren, PA and David F. Miller, and wife, Cheryl, Russell, PA; three daughters, Kathy Miller, of Phoenix, AZ, Sue Unen, and husband, Bo, Warren and Nancy R. Calavitta, Jamestown, NY; one sister, Lois "Lodi" Alexander, Nacogdoches, TX; 14 grandchildren, Nathan Miller, Sarah Aiken, Jason Burgess, Racheal Kessler, Mandy Cranmer, Jared Unen, Leigh Unen, Tyler Unen Lisa Gray, Ann Brennan, Michael Plaster, Maria Linkerhof Carter, Vanessa Sweeny, and Chris Calavitta; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death on February 26, 2011, by her husband, Raymond M. Miller, whom she married on June 10, 1949; one sister, Mabel Blanck; and four brothers, James McJunkin, Murry McJunkin, Robert McJunkin and Wallace McJunkin.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Friday, November 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, November 22, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held at the funeral home, with Rev. Chip Northup, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 311 Beech Street, Warren, PA 16365.
