Obituary

Mark Samuel Roueche, 87, of Warren, PA passed into eternal rest on May 29, 2012.

Mark was born May 21, 1925, in Meadville, Pa. to the late Samuel and Rhea Perrey Roueche. Two older siblings, Wilma Byham of Eastlake, OH and Leon Roueche of Wilmington, MA, survive him as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and step-daughter, Elizabeth Wilcox of Warren, with whom he resided the last few years of his life.

He attended St Brigid's Grade School and St. Agatha's High School in Meadville, Pa. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served in it and the US Marine Corps for three years, part of that time with the Third Division Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre. After being honorably discharged (Medical Corps School) in 1946, he entered St. Bonaventure University then the Christ the King Seminary. Ordained May 27, 1954, said his First Solemn Mass May 30, 1954 at St. Brigid's then was assigned to St. Callistus Church in Kane, Pa.

He was a Chaplain intern at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington D.C. before coming to Warren as Chaplain II at the Warren State Hospital where he was instrumental in the campaign drive and the design of the Interfaith Chapel. 13 years later in 1973 he was promoted to Teaching Chaplain. After his 14-year career at Warren State Hospital, he moved to Hawaii in 1974. He was employed by Hawaii State as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist; he retired 20 years later in 1995.

He was a gentle and caring soul who gave his entire career life to helping his fellow man. He touched many lives and families throughout the years and they enriched his life in return. He enjoyed a life that was not only long, but full and rewarding with his family and friends. To those who knew him he will be greatly missed, but know that he is now at Peace.

As previously published in the Warren Times Observer, the Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 600 Penna. Ave. W., Warren on Thursday, June 14, at 9:30 a.m., with Fr. Rich Toohey, celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
