Marjorie A. Larson, 92, formerly of North Warren, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the Rouse Home, Youngsville, PA. Marjorie was born June 13, 1924, in Erie, PA. She was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Maud (Gleason) Gillett.
Marjorie was a 1942 graduate of Warren High School. Upon graduation, she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone, and also at the Sylvania Plant #2, on Liberty Street in Warren.
While raising five children, she became active in the League of Women Voters, and was a volunteer coordinator for Warren General Hospital. She returned to the work force as a store clerk at Levinson Brothers, Penneys, Bon Ton, and K-Mart, as well as a pharmacy assistant at Crones Drug Store. For 82 years, Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as the President of the Adult Sunday School, and was active in the choir and Bible studies.
She is survived by her five children, Cynthia A. French Hoffman, and husband, Gary, of Rochester, N.Y, Jeffery N. Larson, of Warren, Barbara Larson Moore, and husband, Jan, of Cincinnati, OH, Glenn D. Larson, and wife, Patti, of Russell, and David B. Larson, and wife, Linda, of North Warren. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Hugh W. Gillett, of Bradenton; FL; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death on May 23, 2001, by her husband, Nels H. Larson, whom she married October 30, 1945, at the First United Methodist Church; two sisters, Dorothy M. Strong, and Alberta R. Swanson; and one brother, William C. Gillett.
Friends will be received at Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Rouse Home and Warren General Hospital, officiating.
