Marilyn Jean Wertz, 82, formerly of 624 Conewango Ave., passed away on March 14, 2012 at Golden Living - Kinzua Valley.
Jean was born June 27, 1929, in Sayre, Pa., the daughter of the late George and Florence Ackerman Miller and was a 1948 graduate of Hornell High School. She and her late husband John were members of the First United Methodist Church. Jean was a homemaker who truly enjoyed her family, cooking, puzzles, and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Miles and her companion Don Gillette, Warren, Pa. and Linda J. Brasington and her husband Louis, Lugoff, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Tracie Gray and her husband Bradley, Warren, Robert Miles Jr. and his wife Soni, Forestville, NY, Shannon Ochs and her husband Scott, Roanoke, TX, Shawn Wertz, Warren, John Wertz, Warren, Joseph Brasington, Columbia, SC and Jennifer Brasington, Lugoff, SC; two great grandchildren, Madeline Wertz and Logan Miles; three brothers, George Miller, Wagoner, OK, Edmund Miller, Orchard Park, NY and Gary Miller, Kenmore, NY; a sister, Betty Smalley, Newark, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, John Austin Wertz, whom she married on April 28, 1951 and who passed away on April 23, 2011; a son, John E. Wertz on May 19, 2006; a daughter, Mary Frances Wertz on March 4, 1965; and a sister, Janice Hinman.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., on Saturday, March 17, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation with Dr. Jeffrey Sterling, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, Pa.
