Marilyn Louise Durnell, 76, of Warren, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born August 23, 1938, in Warren, PA. She is the daughter of the late Merle and Genevieve Marlett Eames.
Marilyn was a 1956 graduate of Warren High School. She had worked at various locations in the Warren area and was previously the President of the Warren and Forest ARC. Marilyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother--she was truly committed to her family and faith in God. She was a member of the Warren Alliance Church, where she inspired many women in the Alliance Women group and also played piano. She also enjoyed singing, and would spend her time with the ladies of the church singing at local nursing homes.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Melvin W. Durnell, whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage with on November 22; one daughter, Michelle E. Durnell, of Burnham, PA; and two sons, Martin V. Durnell, and wife, Pam, of Warren, PA and Mitchell A. Durnell, and fiancé, Donnet Bennink, of Jamestown, NY. She also has eight grandchildren, Anthony J. Durnell, and wife, Kristen, Joyce L. Myers, and husband, Mike, Rebekah M. Durnell, and fiancé, Paul Chapman, Jonathan M. Durnell, Christopher R. Durnell, Taylor Elizabeth A. Bennink, Matthew Michael J. Bennink, Alexander Gregory S. Bennink, Samantha L. Strain, Jeffrey Strain and Nicole M. Strain; six great-grandchildren, Jonah W. Durnell, Cadence R. Durnell, Evette G. Durnell, Mora E. Myers, Jenevieve Myers and Gavin I. Chapman; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Mark R. Durnell; one sister, Jean Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Robert Eames and Ronald Eames.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Tuesday, December 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the Warren Alliance Church, 278 Kinzua Road, Warren, on Wednesday, December 3, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Douglas McCracken, pastor, and Rev. John Mechtley, pastor, co-officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave, Warren, PA 16365, or the Warren Alliance Church, to establish a music library.
