Marian Louise Mills Ziki, 88, of Warren, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House.
Marian, one of the "Mills Girls," was born January 24, 1926, in Lander, PA, the daughter of the late John Solomon Mills and Olga Jane Trask Mills. She graduated from Lander High School in 1944, and had worked in various locations throughout the Warren area, including the New Process Company, Sylvania, and Dr. William S. Walter's office. A former member of the Allegheny Outdoor Club, Marian appreciated the beauty of God's world, especially the weather and the night sky. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warren, PA and served on many committees there. She enjoyed classical music, knitting and reading non-fiction.
She is survived by three daughters, Marcia M. Ziki, and her husband, Douglas Vaughn, of Warren, PA, Jane A. Ziki, of Arlington, VA, and Ann L. Ziki, and her partner, Donald Van Huben, Penfield, NY; three sisters, Neva Hagberg, Ruth Mills and Norma Mills, all of Warren, PA; her foster daughter and lifelong friend, Betsy Fowler, Betsy's husband, Dave, and their children, Sara Schager and Bethany Pyda, and their families; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ziki; her son, Mark F. Ziki; three brothers, Vincent, Donald and Leo Mills; and an infant sister, Vivian.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, on Friday, January 9, from 5 to 8 p.m., and also at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, on Saturday, January 10 from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held, with Rev. Mark Hecht, pastor, and Rev. Jon Swart, associate pastor, co-officiating. Burial will follow in Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Warren Public Library, 205 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365; Don Mills Achievement Center, 677 Hospital Drive, Warren, PA 16365; Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365; the First United Methodist Church; or a charity of choice.
The family wishes to thank the many people who have made a contribution to Marian's comfort and health in the last several years. They are especially grateful for the staff and volunteers at Hospice of Warren County, the physical therapy staff at Golden Living, and their many cousins and friends who have visited, offered prayers, and sent cards.
