Linda Rose Jones, 70, of Norberg Road, Russell, Pa, passed away on June 30, 2012, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born January 13, 1942, in Warren, Pa., the daughter of the late Mildred Anderson and the late Leroy Miller. Linda was a graduate of Warren High School, class of 1959; she then attended Jamestown Business College. She was employed by Forest-Warren County Department of Human Services, from which she retired in 2009. She was also previously employed as a bookkeeper for both CMK Auto Parts and Bevevino Electric. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbor Club. Linda was a member of the Gouldtown Community Church where she played the piano and attended Wednesday morning Bible Study, and she also attended the Wednesday evening Bible Study at Cable Hollow Church. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano, dining out, and especially enjoyed time with her family and friends.
Linda was am avid supporter of the Warren Cancer Support Group and the Relay for life.
She is survived by her husband, Philip G. Jones, whom she married on July 7, 1962; her son, Kevin Jones and his wife Mimzie, Russell, Pa.; step-mother, Betty Miller, Bradford, Pa.; sister, Lorraine Knight; Bradford, Pa., sister-in-law, Anna Mae Cobb, Jamestown, NY; two grandchildren, Joshua Jones and Zachary Snyder; and three nieces and three nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Blaine Miller in 2009, and Bruce Miller in1945; and an infant sister, Dora Marie in 1943.
Friends will be received at the Wiltsie Community Church, 65 Swede Hill Rd, Russell, on Saturday, July 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held there at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Gregory Edwards, pastor, Gouldtown Community Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Jon Swart.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Warren, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Warren Cancer Center.
