Leroy H. Sorensen, 82, of Warren, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at Olean General Hospital. Leroy was born at home on Page Hollow Road, October 18, 1934. He is the son of the late Henry and Rosella (Anderson) Sorensen.
In his youth, Leroy worked at Bob Holmes Gulf Gas Station and graduated Warren High School in 1953. He served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1957; and worked as a Maintenance Machinist at GTE Sylvania from which he retired after 38 years. Leroy was a former member of the First Church of God and the First Church of the Nazarene.
A very talented mechanic, Leroy could fix anything. For twenty-two years, he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Silver Springs, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Hennessy) "Cutsie" Sorensen, the love of his life; one daughter, Kathryn Owen, and husband, Bob, of Scandia, PA; and two sons, Rick Sorensen, of Warren, PA, and Don Sorensen, and wife, Tami, of Warren, PA; five sisters, Emily Tuller, of Russell, PA, Gladys Still, and husband, Robert, of Warren, PA, Rose Ann Hennessy, of Warren, PA, Joni Phelps, and husband, Stanley, of Warren, PA, and Julie Mahan, and husband, Bob, of Warren, PA; two brothers, Curtis Sorensen, of Warren, PA, and Denny Sorensen, and wife, Dawn, of Warren, PA. He also has six grandchildren, Karly Sorensen, Katie Owen, Chris Owen, Lisa Owen, David Sorensen, and Darren Sorensen; five great-grandchildren, Malysia Sorensen, Ava Sorensen, Anthony Sorensen, Aria Sorensen, and Liam Sorensen; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA, on Monday, May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held there with Rev. J. Maier, pastor, First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
