Katherine Longshore Smith, 101, of 8 Beaty Court, Warren, PA, passed away on October 14, 2015, surrounded by her family.  Katherine was born January 22, 1914, in Kane, PA.  She was the daughter of the late John Vincent Longshore and Maude Jones Longshore.

Katherine was a 1930 graduate of Kane High School and graduated from Beaver College in 1935.  She was employed by Warren State Hospital as a caseworker, retiring in 1976.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Philomel Club, College Club, Cable Hollow Golf Club, Warren General Auxiliary, and the Mental Health Association of Warren County.  She also belonged to the Women's Club, Antique Study Club, and the League of Women Voters.

She is survived by her sons, John David Smith, Columbia, MD, and Thomas Longshore Smith, New Orleans, LA; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Richard Karsk; and 4 great-grandchildren, Logan, Devlan, Brendan Smith, and Rowan Diedrich.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death in 1995, by her husband, David A. Smith, whom she married September 14, 1940, in Kane, PA.

Friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street, Warren, on Friday, October 16, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11 a.m., with  Rev. Jon Swart, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
