Junia M. Honhart, 87, of Warren, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Warren General Hospital. Junia was born December 25, 1927, in Erie, PA. She is the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Elva L. Farster Uplinger.
Junia was raised in Whitesburg, PA. She was a graduate of Academy High School in Erie. During World War II, she was employed at Giffins Manufacturing in Erie, PA. She later moved to Warren and was employed at North American Phillips. Always willing to help anyone in need, Junia worked as an elder care giver, just recently retiring at 85 years old.
She was a member of the First Church of God, where she was involved in various groups and had also spent a number of years teaching Sunday School.
She is survived by three daughters, Melodie Jackson, of Warren, Kimberley Park, and husband, Raymond, of Jamestown, NY, and Shandra Zimmerman, and husband, Mike, of Ft. Collins, CO; one son, Dale Honhart, and wife, Jenny, of Russell, PA; one sister, Mona June Yount, of Elderton, PA; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on May 18, 1961, by her husband, John T. Honhart.
Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, January 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., and at the First Church of God, 1111 Madison Ave., Warren, on Saturday, January 17, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. William Hargenrader officiating. Private burial will be at Whitesburg United Methodist Church Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Church of God.
