Obituary

Joseph N. Blasco, 86, of 14 Crescent Park, Warren, died on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Saint Vincent Medical Center, Erie.

He was born August 9, 1928,  in St. Michael, Pa., to the late Michael and Mary Blasko. He graduated in 1946 from Windber High School, Windber, Pa., and served in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he graduated in 1951 from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked as a CPA for many years, retiring in 1988 from National Forge. He had been chief financial officer for Loranger Ipari in Budapest, Hungary, and was also appointed and elected Warren County auditor.

Joe was a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA), American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Warren, where he had served as a deacon and elder, and assisted the office staff. He was supportive of Struthers Library Theatre.

He had traveled (with his wife) to places like Germany, Turkey and Russia.He enjoyed photography and staying in contact with friends and family, including relatives in Slovakia, through social media. He loved vintage cars, especially Volkswagens, and jazz music, as he was a big fan of Frank Sinatra. He was an avid sports fan, specifically local high school basketball, the University of Pittsburgh and Pitt basketball, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He loved and was devoted to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carole (Neal) Blasco, Warren; four children, Lynn Patterson (and husband, Paul), of Pittsburgh, Paul J. Blasco (and wife, Kim), of Russell, Jane A. Blasco, of Martinsburg, W.V., and Thomas N. Blasco (and wife, Kellie), of Warren; seven grandchildren, Michael Duran, Meghan Duran, Andrew Duran, Trapper Ralston, Hana Blasco, Rachel Blasco, and Joseph Blasco; and two great-grandchildren, Paisley Duran, and Lennox Alvarez.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine, Martha, Mary, and Alice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at First Presbyterian Church in Warren with the Rev. Jeffrey Ott officiating. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., Warren, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St., Warren, or American Lung Association, 810 River Ave., No. 140, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212.
