Hamilton

John C. Hamilton of State College, PA, and formerly of Warren, PA, passed away January 1, 2017, at 12:12 p.m. following a brief but courageous battle with Lymphoma.
John was preceded in death by his parents Charles F. Hamilton and Ruth Johnson Hamilton (Fogle). He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Hamilton of State College, a daughter Lisa Such, her husband Matthew, their children Michael, Madeleine, Elizabeth, and Colin; a son Charles F. Hamilton II and his daughters, Julia and Eva.
He was a 1963 graduate of Warren Area High School, and attended Mansfield and Edinboro Universities. In 1966, John began his law enforcement career with the Warren Borough Police Department. He then joined the Pennsylvania State Police, graduating from the academy in 1967. He retired in 1994 and began a series of other endeavors to include working for the Warren County District Attorney's Office and the Warren County Vocational School teaching protective services. After moving to State College, John worked as a Security Officer at the Nittany Mall.
Warren County was a haven to fulfill his great love of the outdoors where enjoyed hunting, fishing, and walking in the woods. He also enjoyed all kinds of music; from country to classical. He played the trombone and surprised some with his ability to play the piano. John's greatest love was his family. Raising a family with his wife Carol was one of his greatest accomplishments. He shared his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 South State Street, North Warren, PA, on Saturday, January 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held there with The Rev. Burfoot S. "Buddy" Ward, III, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the North Warren Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund or to the Mt. Nittany Medical Center Oncology Unit.
