Barber Caldwell
March 7, 1930 – February 13, 2018
Joann Lois Barber Caldwell, 87, passed away February 13th at the Lutheran Home at Kane. Joann was born March 7, 1930, in Wetmore, to the late James Ray Johnson and Dorothy Alvina Johnson.
She graduated in 1948 from Ludlow High School. Joann married Benjamin Thom in 1949 and had two daughters, Diane (Dunkle) and Antionette (Simpson). She later married Walter H. Barber, Jr., who preceded her in death and had two sons, Walter H. Barber, III and Steven L. Barber. After Walter's passing, Joann married Robert D. Caldwell, who preceded her in death in October 2015.
Joann was employed at Stackpole Carbon Company in Kane, the Kane View Motel and the Lutheran Home Residential Care Center during her working years. She was an active member of the Ludlow Fellowship Auxiliary and the First Church of the Nazarene in Warren. She enjoyed gardening, camping, baking, crafting and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joann is survived by her two sons, Walter Barber, and wife, Penny, and Steven Barber, and wife, Diane; her daughter, Diane Dunkle; step-children, Robert Caldwell, and wife, Jennie, and Lori VanCise, and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Christopher Barber, and wife, Sara, Caitlyn Jacobus, and husband, John, Hope Thom, Faith Zinkhan, James Nelson, Charlotte Heikkila, and Leah Colangelo; step-grandchildren, Amy Stewart, and husband, Robert, Jeffrey Caldwell, and wife, Suzanne, John Hamm, and wife, Christie, Nathan Hamm, Jocelyn Miller, and William Miller, and wife, Amanda; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands Walter H. Barber, Jr., and Robert D. Caldwell, Joann was preceded in death by her daughter, Antoinette Simpson.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren on Saturday, February 17, from 2 to 3 p.m.
At Joann's request, she has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Warren County Memorial Park.
Memorials can be made to the Lutheran Home Residential Care Center, 100 High Point Drive, Kane 16735 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
