Joan L. Hartnett, 82, of 706 Penna. Ave., Warren, PA, and formerly of Bradford and Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Cambridge of Warren. Mrs. Hartnett was born March 23, 1933, in Williamsport, PA, the daughter the late of Llewellyn and Margaret (Godfrey) Bloom.
Mrs. Hartnett was a member of the class of 1951 St. Mary's High School, Williamsport; and in 1962, she graduated from St. Michael's Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, NJ. She lived in the Bradford area from 1970 to 2010, where she was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, and served as lector and Eucharistic minister. She was employed by the Bradford Hospital and also worked as a school nurse for the Bradford Area school district for several years.
When she moved to Warren, was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and also attended Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. In addition to her career and church, she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Orth, and husband, Robert, of Warren; three sisters, Barbara Krainak, of Williamsport, Mary Halderman, of Ocala, FL and Betty Anthony, and husband, Butch, of Williamsport, three brothers, Thomas Bloom, and wife, Darlene, of Tampa, FL, Herbert Bloom, and wife, Terry, of N. Myrtle Beach, SC and Raymond Bloom, of Williamsport. She also has one grandson, Christopher Orth; four step-grandchildren, John Orth, Laura Orth, Kyle Orth and Melanie Orth; many nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend, Larry Woods of Bradford, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2002, by her husband, Richard F. Hartnett, whom she married May 18, 1970; and three brothers, Leo Bloom, Merrill Bloom, and John Bloom.
Friends will be received at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, on Sunday, June 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's R.C. Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport, PA 17701, on Monday, June 29, at 10 a.m., with, Rev. John Victoria, Celebrant. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
