Obituary

Jill Fraser, 64, of Warren, died at her home on October 19, 2014.  She was born Norma Jill Burgason on January 10, 1950, to the late Roy "Rusty" Burgason and Elizabeth "Lib" Latt Burgason, and was reared in Sheffield, PA.  After graduating Sheffield schools, she earned her BA and M Ed. (with honors) from Clarion State University and then taught primary grades at Pleasant Elementary for 30 years, retiring in 2006.  She was a passionate and accomplished educator who loved her job.

Jill is remembered as a loving and lovable life partner, step-mother and grandmother always ready to have fun.  She was a loyal and joyous friend, kind to and considerate of colleagues and intensely committed to her family.  Above all else, she is remembered as a teacher who made a difference. Before her illness, she had also volunteered at her church, First Lutheran; Warren General Hospital and Warren Public Library.

Surviving are her husband, Gregory B. Fraser, Esq.; her brothers-in-law, Les Lewis and Doug Fraser (Carol); her step-daughters, Tamara Fraser and her spouse, Jackie Schimmell, and Shannon Gardner, and her spouse, Mark; and her adored grandchildren ("the grands") Maeve, Liam and Molly Gardner.  She is also survived by cousins, Barbara Burgason, Earlene Peterson and Jan Phinney.  She was a very proud member of the Warren Chapter of the YaYa Sisterhood, which included Alice Niewoehner, Lynn Raffaele and Donna Trubic.  Additionally, she relished the society of many former colleagues at lunches, where they could comment on the state of education.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her only sibling, her closest confidante and friend, Carla Lewis.  Together, they livened the Warren Players' stage through numerous starring and supporting roles.

A memorial service will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 109 W. 3rd Ave., Warren, PA, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 2 p.m.  The Rev. David Blank, lead pastor, and The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, associate pastor, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365; Warren Library Association, 205 Market St., Warren, PA 16365; or Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park W., Warren, PA 16365.
