IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane
Greenlund
October 30, 1920 – February 7, 2015
Jane Greenlund, 94, of Warren, PA passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Warren Manor. During her last weeks she impressed and inspired her family, friends, and caregivers with her awareness, courage, grit, and grace. She was born on October 30, 1920 the daughter and only child of Robert Burr and Leah Murray Burr Bisler.
Jane graduated from Chatham Hall, a preparatory school in Washington, DC. She then attended Pittsburgh College for Women and Allegheny College before she earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology from Syracuse University. After college she worked for General Electric before moving to Warren. When her children were older, she worked for the Warren Public Library, Warren Forest EOC, and then as a social worker for Children's Services and Warren General Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy Greenlund and wife Barbara of Warren, PA and Terry Greenlund of Chapel Hill, NC and a daughter Carole Parker and husband George of Norfolk, VA. She was so very proud of her five grandchildren, Michael Greenlund, Erin See, Karla Winsheimer, Heather Brown, and Timothy Tillard; her eight great-grandchildren and her cousins, Patty Zahniser, Ginger Swanson, Kathleen Praino, Mary Evelyn Spence, and Betsy Keene.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband and best friend Charles Edward Greenlund, whom she married on June 16,1945; her daughter Margaret Candace; her step-father Walter Bisler, her dear friend Lucille Simmons;her faithful Yorkie Abby.
Jane loved her family and her daily phone calls with them. She loved doing crossword puzzles, tending her flowers, reading print books and books on her Kindle, and spending time on her computer. Perhaps most of all she loved her daily walks around Warren with her devoted walking companion Abby. She enjoyed the friends she saw along the way, and her footprints will remain visible on the walks all along her route.
A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held on Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 14 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, PA, where she was one of the oldest members of the congregation. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a memorial service will be held with The Rev. Jeffrey Ott and the Rev. George Johnson, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Warren Library Association, 205 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365 or to Hospice of Warren County, PO Box 68, Warren, PA 16365 or to a charity of your choice.
