Smith
February 4, 1942 – February 15, 2015
James D. Smith, 73, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House. Jim was born February 14, 1942, in Dravosburg, PA, the son of the late Charles J. and Nina McDowell Smith.
Jim was a 1960 graduate of Brookville High School. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 as an Infantry Fire Crew Member and Sharpshooter. He attended Williamsport Trade School for electricians training, and was then employed by Osram Sylvania as an electrician, retiring in 2000, after 34 years of service. He was an member of Covenant United Methodist Church, where he and his wife were active in the Persuader's Class. Jim also dedicated a great deal of time coaching Little League and American Legion Baseball. Jim was a member and very involved the Pine Grove Sportsmen's Club, the Ridgway Rifle Club, and was a life member of the NRA. Jim will be greatly missed by his family, and his many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma J. Lewis Smith; one daughter, Joan Hill, and husband, Daniel, of Jamestown, NY, and their children, Derek and Taylor; two sons, Timothy Smith, and wife, Stacey, and their children, Shelby and Audrey, of Warren, PA and Theodore Smith, and fiancé , Tracey Rex, and their child, Holden, of Warren, PA; two sisters, Suzanne Webster, and husband, William, of Lima, NY and Catherine Burkett, and husband, Kenneth, of Findley Lake, NY; one brother, John Smith, and wife, Jo Ann, of Brewerton, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the at Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA Tuesday, February 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held there on Wednesday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Erica Wellner, pastor, Covenant United Methodist Church, and Rev. Seth McClymonds, will co-officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Covenant United Methodist Church, 1624 Pennsylvania Ave., E., Warren, PA 16365; the Cancer Care Center at Warren General, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365; or Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
