James Herbert Schumann, 88, of Warren passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.  James was born February 16, 1928, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Herbert G. and Ellen L. (Fitzgerald) Schumann.

James was a graduate of Warren High School.  He served as a Supply Sergeant in Germany during World War II.  Following his enlistment time, he served in the Army National Guard for over 20 years, retiring as Command Sergeant Major.  James was a Union Carpenter, retiring in the 80's.  He was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ, the Glade Township Fire Department, and served as the Emergency Management Director of Glade Township.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie J. (Streich) Schumann, whom he married August 28, 1952, at Emanuel United Church of Christ; one daughter, Mattie A. Maletto, and husband, Ralph, of Johnsonburg; one son, Herbert F. Schumann, of Warren; one sister, Phyllis Murvine, of Warren; two grandchildren, Herbert F. Schumann, II, and Michael J. Schumann; one great-grandchild, Parker D. Oswalt; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Morrison and Virginia Young.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Friday, November 25, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a funeral service and military honors will be held there with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Warren General Hospital and Rouse Home, officiating.

Burial will be in Smith Cemetery.
