IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Leroy
Marshall
September 26, 1942 – March 27, 2026
Memorial Service
Pittsfield Wesleyan Methodist Church
Starts at 1:00 pm (Eastern time)
James Leroy Marshall, 83, of Tidioute, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 27, 2026. Born September 26, 1942 in Western Pennsylvania, to the late James and Margaret Marshall, Jim dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and his community.
Jim married the love of his life, Betty Lou Pritchett, on January 28, 1968. They spent 58 years of loving marriage together, and she survives at home. Together, they traveled across the country for his career, spending time in Baltimore, Arlington, San Francisco, Detroit, and Toledo before returning to his roots in Western Pennsylvania. In each new city, James and Betty embraced the opportunity to cultivate a professional network and establish meaningful connections with many coworkers and neighbors.
Jim received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He spent 35 years in the finance industry, first with Thomson and McKinnon and then with Morgan Stanley. In his early days, Jim taught financial courses at the University of Baltimore, served as Vice President of the Society for the Advancement of Management in Baltimore and President of the Toledo, OH Bond Club.
Jim’s legacy is defined by his tireless service. He was deeply involved in the Methodist Church, holding numerous leadership positions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, including affiliation with the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Jim also served as a Lions Clubs International member for about 45 years, was Vice Chair of the Tidioute Community Charter School Board, and belonged to the Save Our School Committee. Until his passing, he chaired the Warren Electric Cooperative Board and served on the boards of Pennsylvania Rural Electric and Allegheny Electric Cooperative.
Jim’s life was a testament to the value of mentorship. He proudly taught hunter education for the PA Game Commission for 25 years. Jim dedicated 70 years to the Boy Scouts of America, achieving Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster ranks and serving on multiple council Executive Boards. In Warren, he was Director Emeritus of the Chief Cornplanter Council, served as District Chairman and Council President, and received both the Silver Beaver and the Daniel Carter Masonic Award.
Jim’s life was a reflection of his enduring faith. Those who knew him were blessed by his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we celebrate a life well-lived and a journey completed in the assurance of eternal peace. Jim’s influence will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will remain a beacon of light for the path ahead. We are comforted by the knowledge that Jim now rests in the glorious presence of the Creator he so faithfully served.
Jim is survived by his wife, many close cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends and neighbors. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
