James Akers, 78, of Warren died Friday, October 5, 2018 at his residence. Jim, also known as "Tex" and "Mule" to many, was born September 4, 1940 in Biloxi, Mississippi, to the late Walter E and Maybell (Van) Akers. He was raised in LaMarque, Texas and served in the Merchant Marines, after enlisting in the US Navy until they discovered he was too young. He has been a Warren and Sheffield resident for many years. Jim was an over the road truck driver, hauling for Bob Williams and McIlvaine Trucking, from which he retired. Jim enjoyed gardening, yard work, scrapping, and NASCAR racing. He was an avid Cowboys fan. Jim enjoyed his large family, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife: Crissanda (Johnson) Akers; whom he married on November 22, 1999; six children, Beverly Arble, of Sheffield, Janice Raught and husband Gary, of Kane, Karen Akers, of Kane, Robert Lindenmuth and wife Marie, of NC, James Akers Jr. and wife Anita, of Russell, Michael Akers and wife Stephanie of Warren; two step-daughters, Judy Bourdeau and husband Mike, of Prior Lake, MN, and Letitia Armburger and husband Jay, of Metamora, ILL; -twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Buelah (Weidow) Akers, and his second wife, Charlotte (Storer) Akers. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm, and for onr hour prior to a Funeral Service to be held there at 11 am on Wednesday, October 10, at 11 am, with The Rev. Jeffery Ewing, pastor, First Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Warren County Memorial Park. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Warren Cancer Center, 2 Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365
