Jacob S. Shepherd, 27, passed away at his residence in Pittsburgh, PA on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was born on January 2, 1991, in Washington, D.C. He grew up in the Warren area and graduated from Warren Area High School in 2009. Jacob went on to study English and Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Ellen Shepherd of Warren, PA, and his eight siblings and their respective spouses: Jessica Shepherd of Altoona, PA; Justin and Theresa Shepherd of New York, NY; Jennifer and David Minski, and Jameson Shepherd, all of Warren, PA; Joseph Shepherd, Jonathan Shepherd, Joshua Shepherd, and Jeremiah and Samantha Shepherd, all of Pittsburgh, PA. Jacob is also survived by his eleven nieces and nephews, as well as one great-niece. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Harry and Betsy Shepherd and Jerome and Joe Anne (Davis) Sayre. Jacob was passionate about philosophy, literature, and astronomy. He studied karate throughout his life and had a passion for instructing others. He also had a great love for music, whether it be performing in bands, recording on his own, or exploring new music- he also performed in choirs in high school and college, including Warren's Madrigals group. He loved most in life spending time with his family and friends and just being included. He will always be remembered as a generous, kind, and gentle soul who never wanted to be a bother to anyone and simply wanted to make his own way in the world. Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home from 6-8PM on Friday, August 17th. A Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18th at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave E, Warren, PA 16365 at 9:00 A.M., pastor, Rev. Kevin Haley officiating, with a committal service to follow.
