Homer Lee Zumstein, 88, of Warren, PA, formerly of Bradford, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Bradford to the late Dorsey and Mable Zumstein on March 30, 1938.
He married his beloved wife, Lenora J. Marshall (Clark) Zumstein on May 10, 1961
Homer graduated from Bradford Area High School. He was a star player on the football team during his high school career. Homer was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bradford.
He started working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1957 and was very dedicated to his career in fisheries. In 1964 he worked at the Farnsworth Hatchery near Clarendon. After being transferring out of state for a few years, in 1973 he returned to PA working at the newly opened Fish Hatchery below Kinzua Dam until his retirement in 1995.
Outside of work, Homer loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed when people stopped along the road to admire the flowers he grew. He loved to tell hunting and fishing stories and tales of the journeys he'd taken and the people he met. He enjoyed spending time researching his family genealogy.
Homer is survived by his wife, Lenora; his children, Roger (Roberta) Clark, Donald Zumstein, Lisa Zumstein, and Diana (Scott) Elmquist; his grandchildren, Lee Zumstein, Lacey Clark, Adam Clark, Chase Elmquist, and Katie Elmquist; great-grandson, Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond D. Zumstein, Harry J. Zumstein, C. John Zumstein, Naomi R. McGary, Paul E. Zumstein, and infant brother Peter.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penna Ave E, Warren, PA, 16365. Visitation for Homer will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, August 2, from 4pm-6pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, at the funeral home at 11am, Rev. Joel Dingeldein officiating.
Interment will take place at McKean County Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Homer’s name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
