Harold Douglas Jones, 90, of North Warren, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018, at his home. He was born June 18, 1927, in Scranton, North Dakota. He was the son of the late Charles and Evelyn Jones. He served in the Army during WWII at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco, CA.
After college, Doug worked in the Marshall Islands for an engineering company where they developed the hydrogen bomb. His 35 year career was as Manager of Fruit Growers Supply in Porterville, CA – affiliated with Sunkist Growers, Inc., Los Angeles, CA. He was also a member of North Warren Presbyterian Church – where he served on many committees.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leota (Lee) Barrett Jones; his beloved dog, R B Jones; one sister, Shirley Philpot, of Tulare, CA; a son, Evan C. (Diana) Jones, of Porterville, CA.; step-daughter, Rebecca Puls (Louie) Wheeler, of Oklahoma City; step-son, Ted Puls, of Porterville, CA; ten grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacie Jones, in May of 2007.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, January 20, at the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 South State Street, North Warren, PA, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with The Rev. Burfoot "Buddy" S. Ward, III, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider the North Warren Presbyterian Church at 200 South State Street, Warren, PA 16365; Hospice of Warren County at 1 Main Avenue, Warren, PA 16365; and Paws Along the River at 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
