Obituary

Gregory (Greg) S. Nagurney, Sr., 65, of Warren, PA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, with Mary C. Munch Nagurney, his wife, by his side. Greg was born on January 3, 1957, in Warren, the son of Anthony (Kit) Nagurney and Norma J. Andersen Nagurney. His youth was spent in the Brokenstraw Creek behind his parents' home, where he forged a lifelong connection with the natural world. He was also a passionate skier who spent his winters at the Buckaloons Ski Area in Youngsville, PA. Greg went on to graduate from Youngsville High School in 1974, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Edinboro University, and a Masters in Elementary and Secondary School Guidance at St. Bonaventure University. He was a guidance counselor and history teacher for 31 years with the Warren County School District before retiring in 2012. Greg was an outdoorsman, who shared his love with his family for hunting, fishing, boating at Chautauqua Lake, while patiently teaching everyone to ski at Peek n Peak. In his retirement, he was a member of the Pine Grove Sportman's Club, the Kalbfus Club, and shot in the Penn-York trap league. He was also an avid reader and historian. Greg asked that we express his deep gratitude for the thoughtful messages, cards, gifts, and compassion of his friends, colleagues, and community throughout his final years. In addition to his parents and wife, Mary, whom he wed in June of 1977, Greg is survived by his three children, Greg Nagurney Jr., wife Becky Allen and their children, Claire and Wyatt of Waterburg, VT, Emily Nagurney of Erie,PA, and Drew Nagurney and wife Molly Driscoll Nagurney of San Diego, CA; sister Molly Lawson of Youngsville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Greg is preceded in death by his in-laws, Gil and Eleanor Munch; brother-in-law. G. Thomas Munch; and maternal and paternal grandparents Memorial Contributions may be made to North Warren Volunteer Fire Department, 12 S State St. Warren, PA, and to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm St. Warren, PA.
