Gladys M. Smith, of Dutchman Run Road, Stoneham, Pa., died at her residence on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
Gladys was born October 4, 1939 in Warren, the daughter of the late Vernon and Martha Zobrist Mack. A lifelong resident of Stoneham, she graduated 8th grade in 1953 from the Lincoln School located in Clarendon Heights and from Warren High School in 1957. During High School, Gladys worked the S.S. Kresge Company. After graduation she worked for the former New Process Company for seventeen years, from which she retired.
Gladys was a member of the Stoneham Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Stoneham Ladies Aides, and the Stoneham Home Extension Group. She enjoyed hunting with her late husband, and also was an active member in the Warren Archery Club, as they both enjoyed competitive archery shooting.
She is survived by her son, Michael E. Smith and wife Jessica, their four sons, Michael Peyton, Matthew Preston, and Mason Price Smith, and her step grandson, Austin Anthony Simmer, all of Stoneham; a sister, Joyce Phelps, Warren, a brother-in-law James Stearns, Warren.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. "Smitty" Smith, whom she married on July 19, 1958, three brothers, Laverne K, Harold L. and Ronald D. Mack; a nephew, Kenneth Mack; and a niece, Susan Mack. She is also preceded by her lifetime friend of over 70 years from grade school, Joyce Jackson DeNisco, Angola, NY.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA., on Monday, July 7, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Alberta Smith, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Warren County Memorial Park.
