Gerald L. "Jerry" Peterson, 69, of Warren, and formerly of Kane, PA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at West Penn Hospital, in Pittsburgh. Jerry was born July 20, 1946, in Kane. He was the son of the late Oscar and Mary (Weaver) Peterson.
Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Kane High School. He served four years in the U.S. Army, doing one and a half tours in the Vietnam War. He was then employed at the Warren State Hospital, as a Psychiatric Aide for 19 years, and Grounds Security for six years, retiring in 1996. He and his wife were recently attending the Cable Hollow Community Church. Always remaining very active, Jerry was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
He was a life member of the following associations, the American Legion Post #122, the AmVets #1992, near his winter residence in Eustis FL, the John Gertsch Memorial Post, the Disabled American Veterans, the NRA, and the North American Hunting Club and a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter Q.
He is survived by his wife, Karen L. (Pesko) Peterson, whom he married February 4, 1978; and two daughters, Amy Lynn Zimmerman, and husband, Shawn, of Kersey, PA, and Wendy Sue Lindsey, of Edinboro, PA; two brothers, Edward Peterson, and wife, Connie, of Warren and Thomas Peterson, and wife, Florence, of North Warren; two grandchildren, Aubrie Lynn Shrubb and Alyssa Belle Shrubb; his mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Doris and Francis Pesko, of North Warren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Frasier; and nephew, Steve Jerman.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Monday, June 20, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Boyd Smith, West Unity Community Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Taber Cemetery, Kane, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Warren DAV, C/O John Hoden, New Hope Road, Titusville, PA 16354.
