Gerald D. Crossley, 79, of Youngsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Warren General Hospital. Gerald was born May 29, 1935, in Warren, PA. He is the son of the late Harry G. and Katherine Compton Crossley.
Gerald was a lifelong resident of the Warren area and had served in the National Guard during the Korean War. He was previously employed as a laborer at Berenfield Barrel Works, a machinist at Thomas Coupling, and was a part time deputy at Sheffield Police Department. He later worked for Crossett, Inc. as a truck driver, from which he retired.
He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, Clarendon, where he was active in the Men's Bible Fellowship. Gerald was an active member of the of the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department in the 1950's, later in the 1960's, he was also an active member of the Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, roller skating, baseball and bowling. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children, Jim Crossley, and wife, Judy, Warren, PA, Laurie Crossley, Warren, PA, Mark Crossley, and wife, Kathy, GA, and Mary Beth Crossley, Sheffield, PA; three siblings, Karen Armstrong, NC, Cheryl Hansen, Warren, PA, and Victor Sobel; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Neil Crossley; and an infant sister, Patricia Crossley.
Friends will be received today, Thursday, December 18, at the Victory Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Clarendon, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Pastor Neal Arthur, officiating. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church; or Friends of the Rouse, 701 Rouse Avenue, Youngsville, PA.
