Obituary

George E. Seelinger, 91, of Conewango Avenue , Warren, and Lakeside Campground, Stow, NY, died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Rouse Home of Youngsville, PA.  George was born August 5, 1926, in Erie, PA, the son of the late George W. and Margaret C. (Morse) Seelinger.

George was ranked as a Seaman First Class in the Pacific Theater during World War II with the US Navy as a Patrol Craft Escort (PCE) and Rescue 853; PCE 904; and the Achomawi Class Ocean Tug, USS Chawsha.  He was a member of the IAM Union and was employed by Watson's Manufacturing and Larson's Manufacturing in Jamestown, NY.  He ultimately retired from Jamestown Manufacturing in 1988.

George's family and friends remember him as an expert fisherman, the greatest handyman of all time, a practical jokester and the camp mascot.  During his time at the Rouse Home, George had been lovingly appointed the "hall monitor" of his floor.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three children—Diane Sedlack, and husband, Alan, Spencer, NE, Karen Chase, and husband, Bob, of Sugar Grove, PA, and Kevin Seelinger, and wife, Robin, of Warren, PA; one step-daughter—Linda Bastow, and husband, Ken, of McCormick, SC; two daughters-in-law—Earlene Warren, of FL; and Kathy Jaynes, and husband, Bob, of MI; 15 grandchildren—Paul Warren, Jr., Dawn Peel, Jeff Bastow, Steve Bastow, Lisa Feeny, Chad Warren, Christine Chase, Robert Chase III, Michael Seelinger, Ashley Wentworth, Renee Minter, Ralph Gerolamy, Ryan Melton, Pam Koski, and Randy Morgan; twenty six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret L. Kent, and his second wife, Gertrude A. Lefford Warren; daughter—Charlene A. Morgan; two step-sons, Paul and Bill Warren; sister—Jean Kinstler; and three brothers—James, Reginald, and Donald Seelinger.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA , on Wednesday, May 16, from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. , and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Thursday, May 17, at 11 a.m. , with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Rouse Home, officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.
