Genevieve Arthur "Betty" Bloomgren, age 89, passed into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at her home in Russell, PA.  She was born April 19, 1924 in Warren, PA. to the late Clyde and Mildred Wiggins Arthur. Her father said that "while her name is Genevieve she will always be Betty to me" and she was Betty to everyone who knew her.

Betty married Harold Bloomgren on March 27, 1943 at Grace United Methodist Church. Their daughter, Linda was born while Harold was serving in WWII. Harold has shared over the years that the happiest day of his life was when the war ended and he could go home to his family. That family grew to include Linda Clover and husband Ron of Warren, PA; Allen Bloomgren and wife Billie of Great Falls, MT; Harold Bloomgren Jr. and wife Diane of Russell, PA; twins Gary Bloomgren and wife Beth of Russell, PA and Jerry Bloomgren and wife Debbie of Sugar Grove, PA; twins Karen Beardsley and husband Ed of Lander, PA and Kathleen Landin and husband Jeff of Butler, PA; Darryl Bloomgren of Panama, NY; and Carol Addesso and husband Bob of Cap May, NJ; one sister Gladys Jones and husband Blaine of Warren, PA all surviving.  . Betty has 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Betty's greatest joy in life was caring for her family.

Betty grew up in a large family of eight brothers and three sisters. It was a busy, wonderful family. Betty was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Clyde Jr, Allen, Bob, Lester,  Harold, Curtis, Norman, one sister Ruby and infant daughter, Suzanne.

Betty was a long time member of the Lander United Methodist Church where she was active on many committees and sang in the choir and Ladies' Chorus. Betty was also a member of the Hill and Dale Garden Club where she shared her love for flowers and gardening with many friends.

Betty enjoyed traveling to visit her children and their families, and she and Harold visited relative's in Sweden. They also traveled to Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Hawaii and Alaska.

Betty was employed by the Warren County School District in the cafeteria of the Eisenhower High School from which she retired. She served Farmington Township as Judge of Election for many years.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Avenue E., Warren, PA  16365 on Sunday March 2, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM and at the Lander United Methodist Church for one hour prior to the funeral service to be held at the church at 11:00 AM with Rev. J. Mark Hurst, officiating. Burial will follow at the Marshtown Cemetery.
