Fred M. Wood, age 67, of Warren, passed away following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease, on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his residence.

Fred was born July 28, 1948, in Warren, PA. He is the son of the late John and the late Mary (Jennings) Wood Hodges.  A lifelong Warren resident, Fred was a 1969 graduate of Warren Area High School. He was employed at the Struther's Wells Company as a machinist for many years, and then worked at Howe's True Value for several years, from which he retired.

Among the many things Fred enjoyed were building his own home, the outdoors, and Civil War memorabilia. Fred was well known for a great sense of humor that will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Alice D. Ferrell Wood, whom he married in 1986; three sons, Robert Wood, Corey Wood, and Jason Wood; five sisters, Delores Williams, of Jamestown, NY, Deborah Allen and companion Kelly of Jamestown, NY, Bonnie Griffin of Warren, PA, Diane Hawk and husband Terry, of Clarendon, PA, and Rose Gibson of AZ; a brother, Harold Wood and companion Fran, Clarendon, PA; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his caregiver, Julie Proper.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, James Wood.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
